Dear Friends,
Before we begin, I want to let you know that Bishop Jos has asked me to be Convention Secretary for this year's convention. It was very easy to say yes because this means that I will be able to connect with so many friends that I made during my tenure in this office. I'm looking forward to working with you.
Now onto the important stuff. Even though this year’s Diocesan Convention seems like a long time away, November will be here before you know it. With that in mind, here is some preliminary information for you so that you can get dates on your calendars and get a sense of what to expect
Diocesan Convention is scheduled forNovember 10 and 11 at the Church of the Holy Nativity in Meridian.
Deanery meetings (by zoom) are scheduled forOctober 9 (Central & Eastern) and October 10 (Western & Southwestern).
Registration information: All wardens and delegates are automatically registered by virtue of the fact that we received a delegate election form. Active clergy are also registered and are expected to attend. Guests will need to register (primarily for a meal count), and more information about that will be forthcoming
In addition to all active clergy, retired clergy that reside in the Diocese will be expected to attend unless they receive an excused absence from the Bishop
Sometime in August, information will be sent (and posted on the website) regarding Council & Standing Committee nominations as well as hotel information for those traveling to Boise
The deadline for resolutions is 45 days before Convention (September 25); for canonical changes it is 60 days before Convention (September 10)Billing information will be sent to parish treasurers in late September.
As more information becomes available, you will be the first to know. In the meantime, I hope this helps with your planning as we begin to think about this very important Diocesan event
.Have a safe and healthy summer and we’ll see you in November
